Matthew John Markling is a partner with the law firm of McGown, Markling & Whalen Co., L.P.A. Mr. Markling serves as the Coordinating Partner of both the Firm’s Labor and Employment and Litigation practices.
Mr. Markling is a School Board Member for the Lakewood City School District Board of Education and was recently awarded the Outstanding Leadership Award by the Ohio Educational Service Center Association in recognition of his legal leadership to Ohio Educational Service Centers and their school districts.
Mr. Markling has served as an assistant professor for the Bowling Green State University College of Education and Human Development, Division of Educational Administration & Leadership Studies, as well as an adjunct faculty member and senior lecturer with the University of Akron School of Law and College of Education.
Mr. Markling is Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rated for ethical standards and legal ability.
Mr. Markling is one of approximately 15 attorneys appointed to serve on the Ohio State Bar Association Task Force on Attorney Advertising and Marketing. The Task Force is charged with reviewing the current state of attorney advertising in Ohio and the manner in which it is regulated. The Task Force first met on August 14, 2008, and will continue to meet until such time as its findings are presented to the Ohio State Bar Association.
